let me try ;)

vanillezucker - vanilla flavored sugar
(it is sold in small packages here, about 1 spoon full of sugar)
you can use just a bit of vanilla flavour

backpulver - backing powder (not yeast !!)

schmelzbutter - i do not know this expression >> it means butter that melts,
i would use regular butter ...

zwieback - the dictionary says biscuit, rusk ??

Pfefferkuchengewürz - this cannot be translated, its a special german spice-mixing for
xmas cookies ... i do not know if you find it at your place, my mother in italy
always asks me to send it to her ...

rohe kartoffeln - raw / not cooked potatoes

Stärkemehl - starch flour

hope this helps !!!

so the Pfefferkuchengewürz could be the blend of spices found in a recipe for gingerbread?

i used to make gingerbread cookies back when i was married. and i added black pepper to make them spicy.
